I bought this unit about 9 months ago after our third power outage lasting multiple days. Price was lowest and reviews mostly good so I took a chance. Ordered with wheel kit and cover, delivered in a few days, unpacked and set up with gas and oil. Started right up, ran it for about 20 minutes and parked it in a corner of the garage. Must have scared mother nature cause she let me be. Freak storm Friday night and no power. Unpacked all the stuff being stored on and around the unit 6:30 am saturday and drug out to the driveway, cranked right up, ran several extensions for fridge and freezer then started on the big wire job I had planned and purchased for but never got around to. Now it's Sunday afternoon and the unit has been running about 24 hours (shut down at 10:30 pm to 6:30 this morning. This morning at the 20 hour mark I shut down and allowed to cool for the first reccomended oil change. Then right back to work. I also installed a dual gauge for reading wattage draw so I can level out the power. I can power either the house (less the ac) or the ac and a low use receptacle only. I was a little cautious about running the central air so I first tested with everything else for a while. Then I kicked everything else off and kicked on the ac. After the thermostat went through the safety delay the ac came on, the gen groaned mildly to keep up with the startup but never faltered I monitored very closely for the first hour and then gave her a break and switched back to the house to give the fridge and freezer some time. I continue to alternate between ac and house so we do not loose our cold food or get up to the 100 degree mark we are flirting with outside. I am impressed with this unit. One of the reasons I bought it was that there is a conversion kit available to run propane. If this unit gets me through a rough storm filled summer like last year I may mount and wire permanent and install a propane tank. My experience has been positive and I would purchase again.
